Which C of the Business Should One Focus on First?

Time to take the business from average to exceeding.

One question needs to be asked by every business owner:

What makes the business unique from other competitors?

By implementing The Three C’s, we can take that creation and connect it to the ideal client leading to a fiercely loyal community

The Three C’s of business is to create, connect, and community.

Let’s explore further into each C and focus on their benefits.

CREATE is the product or service offered by the business. Maybe, it’s the experience you offer that makes the business stand out. Or the service is catered to individuals who are searching for a resolution to their problem. What if the business makes a product that is one-of-a-kind!

Whatever is sold, make it incomparable, raw, and useful.

Reflect on that one business you choose every time? Why does that one particular business stand out from the other competitors?

For me, I am a returning customer at the local coffee shop. Sure, I can buy coffee through the infamous supply chain. But I return to that local coffee shop every weekend for three reasons: quality of the product, customer service, and supporting local.

Within the two years of becoming a regular customer, I’ve only experienced positive interactions with each visit. And every single time, the coffee is strong, the baristas are extremely friendly and I leave with a peace of mind knowing that I am supporting a small business owner like myself.

Reflect on those experiences and learn how to implement a similar creation into the business. Ultimately, you were the creator of this business. So how can this creation make a lasting impression?

CONNECT  which is the bridge between that product/service to the ideal client.

The business has created a service or product that outshines any competitor. Now you need to effectively communicate this to your ideal client. But how can you do such a thing as “spreading the word?”

By focusing on one form of communication at a time:

Written: emails, blog posts, social media, website

Verbal: word of mouth is the biggest seller, podcast ads

Physical: create a logo and imprint on inexpensive items (i.e. stickers, bumper stickers, bookmarks)

To amplify the business one must focus on marketing strategies. Start small and focus on at least TWO forms of communication for one month. Become an expert in those forms of communication before venturing into other options.

For example, written communication is an area of focus (psst, I can help with this!) Set a goal to post 2 blog posts per week that offer helpful tips, client testimonials, and special offers. The second form of communication is physical where the goal is to attach a new logo sticker with every purchase.

To summarize, choose TWO forms of communication and execute it weekly with consistency. Remember, these are the strategies needed to connect the business’ creation to that ideal client.

COMMUNITY is the organic growth of customers who continues to support the business.

When a customer makes that split-second decision between your business or a similar competitor, we want them to choose your business to satisfy their needs.

Remember that loyal clients = returning customers which should lead to an increase in revenue.

Once the connection has been established, we need to maintain the community by offering a more personal connection. Take the extra time to send a handwritten thank-you note with each purchase. With this additional effort, it shows the client that you genuinely appreciate their business. If you own a brick & mortar business, possibly offer an early bird special where customers shop for a few hours before the store opening. This offers more one-on-one interaction with those customers who accepted the invite.

Regardless, find that little personal touch you can add to further establish the community.

Well, how do you find these clients? For now, focus on the online world.

Get started with building an online presence in three simple steps:

  1. Build a website

  2. Focus on building an audience on TWO social media platforms

  3. Remain consistent

These three steps are further explored in my article about building an online presence along with making impacting connections with ideal clients leading to your community.

...

Time to simplify the process. I challenge you to focus on ONE C (create, connect, community) to further build the business. Whether it’s finally making that creation of product or service into reality. Or maybe that creation has been perfected but the issue lies with connecting to that ideal client. Or maybe it’s time to build that community of loyal customers. Don’t worry, perfect once C at a time!
